This happens every so often - Usually on a clear day. I seem to get a lock on 16-7, 16-9 & 16-10. No picture, just audio - Like it is just a music channel. There is no station identifier or info and I listened for at least half and hour on one station hoping to hear a station ID and yet there was nothing.

Any ideas?

**Addendum - Sorry - Im in the Hamilton / Dundas area if that helps!

Audio only virtual channels may not be a common use of the bandwidth but it is an option available to the broadcaster.

Are you able to determine the real channel number looking through the menus on your tuner? My Zenith DTT-901 STB and Silicondust HDHR tuners allow me to see the real channel, the TV's with built-in tuners are not friendly that way.

Here in the Seattle area, KBCB has had audio only VC's on for short periods as they seem to be testing a new modulator... RabbitEars.info only indicates the primary VC so far.

As the other question askers do , post your tvfool radar report. The default antenna height is 10 feet so put the antenna height at the height you think your antenna height is. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=4 It is better if you do not post a new post each time. If you continue what you have posted before it will be updated and moved to the head of the line.

Here is my Tv Fool report;

I might add, during the rescan I began to pickup WXXI & WROC as well, there might be some correlation?

Thanks,

Rescan the tuner from time to time because new Tv stations and channels are added or changed without notice. It is best to continue an original post instead of making a new one each time unless it is a different address and then make a new post.

This sounds like tropospheric 'skip'. When conditions are right, you may receive distant stations. The atmosphere can act as a 'duct' or 'pipe' at times, but the phenomena is variable and its effect will vary depending on the signal frequency.

Your mystery sub-channels are WXXI from Rochester, NY.

RabbitEars (http://rabbitears.info/) will list the details of subchannels.
