I'm trying to get the major broadcast channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) in my area (Orange County, CA). I have a pretty good looking TVFool report from what I can tell, so I figured getting a decent indoor antenna would achieve my goal. I bought the Winegard Flatwave from Home Depot. Tested it by attaching it to my window facing NWW. ALL UHF channels come in great but I'm having a hard time with ABC and FOX, the 2 channels that are Hi-VHF. I'm thinking about returning the Flatwave and trying a Winegard Freevision but the advertised range is 30 miles, which is just barely enough to get most of my channels (28-29 miles). Do you guys think that range on the Freevision is sufficient? Also, should I try mounting it in the attic or outside? I have an old DirecTV dish that I can remove and replace it with an Antenna. If I do that, it would face opposite of the direction the dish is currently facing, but it would kinda face my neighbors house (see attached Imgur). Would that be a problem?

I don't see the image.

That's odd. I see it. Did you click on the link? It's a GIF to show where the antenna would be mounted and where it would be pointed.

After clicking on everything I could think of, I finally found the magic key.

it would kinda face my neighbors house (see attached Imgur). Would that be a problem? It would be a problem if his house blocked the signals.

I think the Winegard Freevision would be an improvement over the Flatwave. The "X" wires are for UHF and the loops for VHF. You could make a temporary test of it in the attic before going outside; the signal loss in the attic is difficult to predict.

Another indoor antenna to consider is the Antennas Direct C2V. The loops are for UHF and the dipole is for VHF, indicated by the "V."

Another outside antenna to consider is the RCA ANT751. Since your mount has diagonal braces, you might be able to add a 5 ft mast extension.
