Hi there,

I am having problems with reception and I am looking for some advice!

Tv Fool: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d51342a830b5fe8
Antenna: Roof mounted C2V, no pre-amp
Distribution Amp: ChannelMaster 2 way

I have no problem with the local channels, but the Buffalo stations are an issue. CBS and PBS generally come in OK, but NBC/ABC/Fox are trouble at the best of times. I suspect the problem has to do that NBC is 75 miles away and only 5 degrees off of the CN Tower which is 3 miles away.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You do have a serious problem. The local channels are a lot stronger than the weak ones you want, they are almost in the same direction, and you have adjacent channel interference that is greater than the 33 dB difference in strength allowed by tuner design.

The only ideas I have are:

1. Insert an attenuator ahead of the amp to reduce the strong signals that might be creating IMD (Intermodulation Distortion) spurious signals that interfere with your weak signals
2. Use the two antenna trick, outdoor, as described on hdtvprimer.com to put the strong local signals in a null in the antenna pattern
3. As a last resort, separate antennas for the most important weak signals with a preamp and custom single channel bandpass filter from Tin Lee Electronics.
