I would like to save money on my cable bill. I presently have cable tv with a box, internet connection and my phone land line all with the same company. Being a total beginner, I don't which if any of those I can get rid of. I certainly would appreciate some guidance. My report is as follows.....

Try an ANT-751 on the roof aimed at 219 degrees. Unless you have more than 2 TVs a preamp or distribution amp is not necessary. You'd get a full slate of networks.

will it have instructions, etc that will show me how to point it to a certain degree?......keep in mind that I'm new at all this stuff....Thanks
Use a magnetic compass to aim the antenna towards the stations as show in the attached picture. You can find an inexpensive compass at Wal-Mart or stores that sell camping gear.1726

Thanks Tim........when I wire the ANT-75.......do I bypass the cable company box and wire it straight to the TV? I've got a Sony HD TV that is about 8 years old and a smaller newer smart tv in another room...Am I ok with those? The sony is my main tv.

Yes, connect the coax from the antenna directly to the TV and do a channel scan (Don't drill any holes yet). Make sure you choose antenna or air, NOT cable, in the settings before starting the scan. It might be advantageous to use the newer TV for the initial scans and aiming as the tuner could be of a newer generation.
After the antenna is up and working you can easily add a splitter etc. for a second TV.
DO NOT use any cable co. supplied boxes with OTA as they are designed for cable frequencies and authentication.
