Tips/Suggestions (Agoura Hills, Southern California)

I’m looking for any tips/suggestions in regards to jumping ship from my current setup of DirecTV to utilizing an antenna. My one story house is currently wired with a satellite dish and coaxial wiring throughout my house by DirecTV. I am planning on purchasing an antenna and using the existing mount/dish and setting it up as shown here: http://imgur.com/a/5ORVZ I ran a TVFool report (http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3dd243222e687d55)
on my address and found that I am borderline on reception issues. Can you recommend me an antenna to get/any additional setup you would recommend to get the best signal? (I don’t mind spending extra for a nice antenna) Would it even be worth it to install the antenna or would the reception be too poor to receive watchable channels? Would it be worthwhile to get a pre-amp and if so, how will this fit into the installation, would any additional wiring be required to power the amp? Thanks so much for your assistance.

Hi - I'm not connected with the industry, but if I were you I would be thinking big antenna on as high a mast as I could manage. Maybe the HD1850? http://www.antennacraft.net/Antennas/AntennasAllChannel.html You have a whole lot of stations from the LA market at 70 magnetic, but they seem to range from weak to impossible, at least at that antenna height. Looks like you have a few near-in hills that block the signal from Mt. Wilson (check the KABC profile - click on the call sign). Going higher may help you a lot.

Forget that silly mounting on the dish arm itself.

How much below the edge and how far back from the peak of that hill are you?

There's really nothing on low VHF 2-6 in LA, so an all-channel antenna is not needed.
