antenna in Dallas

I have the usual question, I am in Dallas and I am looking to find the right antenna. I saw an older post from someone in Dallas, but not all of the antennas were still available.

It looks fairly straight forward, since most of the signals are between 215 -219 degrees, but I am having some problems. So far I have tried the ClearStream 2 in the attic without a lot of luck. I could pull in 2 of the 4 main stations, but if I turned it enough to pull in the other 2, I lost the first 2 and the signal was never great on a few of them. The guy at the store told me that the downtown buildings were impeding the signal, so I was going to call it quits until I saw this forum, so I wanted to pose the question here. I think that I may have to try it outdoors, but I would prefer to keep it in the attic if possible. I have a straight line view, no trees and it is about 25 foot up. I am also going to be splitting the signal into 4 lines. I have a Rocketfish bi-directional mini drop amplifier. Thanks!

If you had that kind of problems with a C2, then either the attic or the signal path is killing the signals before they get to the antenna.

What type of roofing is on your home? Radiant barrier present?

Have you tried it without the Rocketfish, just a single coax from the antenna to a single set?

I do have radiant barrier, which I didn't think about until now. It is a class 4 shingle roof, which is a little heavier shingle, so I don't know if that would be an issue.

I didn't try running the cable directly, which I now realize I should have tried.

I did try placing the antenna in a couple of different spots in the attic, with no difference. I have since returned the antenna. I did like the size and it has worked well for a couple of family members who I got it for in different parts of the country.

Radiant barrier blocks almost all RF signals. That eliminates the attic as a viable candidate location.

The ClearStream 2V would be the recommended antenna for the Dallas area. The VHF elements are usually required for WFAA.

Do Not use any type or kind of antenna system amplifier.

Disconnect and Remove All Parts of Antenna System Amplifiers.

As a Test of reception to prove reception , install the CS2 antenna above the roof in such a manner that reception is not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , by the , attic , roof , building , in the directions of , South West , North.

Aim the CS2 antenna at about 212 degree magnetic compass direction.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna , do not trust a , cell phone , tablet and etc. compass.

As always , the antenna aim and location can be adjusted for best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.
