Hello everyone.

I need some advice on an antenna set up. First off, here is the signal report.

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d5b9413e3413efb

It's a two story condo/town house set up. No exterior antenna allowed by the HOA so I have to install it in the attic. The home is pre-wired with RG-6. There will be only two Televisions hooked up to the cable run.

I've used a MOHU leaf amplified unit, and I could not get a good signal on all the channels from PHX.

It looks like the major network channels are on high VHF band. I've been thinking about one of these antennas; the Channel Master CM-2016 or CM-4221HD. Which of these would be better in my set up? Are there others that would work better?

Thanks for your time and help,

Mark

Our ClearStream 2V should work fine. Mount it where it has a good view of South Mountain. You have a mix of both high HF and UHF stations. If you have metal roofing, radiant barrer insulation, or TechShield shingles, the attic becomes unusable. Clay tile roofs, to lightly lesser extent, are also signal killers.

You do not need nor should you use any amplifiers.

No option to mount outside. We have a patio on the ground floor, which has a big tree between it and South Mountain. Will this work well in the attic?

Since you have LOS on everything imaginable, have you tried this?

For those more advanced than I am, could the MOHU have over-amplified the strong local signals?

1. What's LOS?

2. I gave those up for Lent. :)

LOS = Line of Sight.

What LOS did you give up for Lent? I'm still looking for an alm to give away.

Bump....

All kidding aside. Should I try the MOHU w/o the amplifier? Could the amp have caused the issue? According to the signal report above, should I get an antenna that is strong on the high vhf side or get one of the bow ties?

Experts please point me in the right direction, the family is driving me nuts.....

Don't expect the MOHU to receive much below real CH-14.

A few antennas like the Leaf include a bypass switch for the amplifier... I don't recall if the Leaf does or not. If not, removing the power supply will not remove the built-in amplifier, just make it stop passing much of any signal.

But if you already have it, try.
