Need recommendation for rooftop antenna

I am currently using a rooftop mounted Winegard 6065 antenna with rotor for FM dxing. I am planning to cut my cable connection and need to replace that antenna with one that will pull in as many HD channels as possible while still getting good FM reception. My antenna is between 25 to 30 ft high but I'm surrounded by trees on the north and south. I recently found TV Fool while trying to research antennas and was impressed with the recommendations given to others. Now I would like to enquire from your great knowledge base what would be my best setup. I would keep the existing FM system as is if it's still in good condition.

An RCA ANT-751R or Antennacraft HBU-11 mounted on the existing mast, below the rotator, pointing toward the NW should be quite capable in your conditions. I'd keep the FM and TV distribution cabling separate.

i got $10 that says the antennacraft hd1850 with the 10g212 adjustable amplifier will hit that abc affilliate at 105 miles.

Nothing against the antenna.

In this case, there is co-channel interference on RF 8. That might undue any attempt at WOLO no matter the antenna.

Russhg, what distant signals are you wanting specifically? As I see it you have a chance for a Charlotte' CBS WBTV and FOX WJZY in terms of reliable reception. The rest of Charlotte is into the extremely weak and "hit and miss" category at best.

Hi Russhg,

If Charlotte is your goal to attempt. I recommend a more elaborate set up. This involves two independent and separate systems.

System 1: GUM's recommendation for Greenville. His suggestion is spot on. This is set up is easy.

System 2: Attempt a Charlotte. Install channel master 4228HD. http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=4228-hd Orientate to magnetic heading 72.

Do NOT install preamp. You have very strong signals at magnetic 287. Any use of a preamp will put you at high risk for TV tuner overload. Normally I'd suggest it, but WNTV is laying a wicked signal on you.

As mentioned prior, you have a chance at CBS and FOX from Charlotte. The other networks will likely have drop outs and come and go at best. Charlotte ABC WSOC will not be received in any manner.

This will be up to you if you want to spend the energy and resources for couple of Charlotte signals.
