Hey guys,
I'm really not very sharp with this stuff and was wondering if someone might help. What I would like to do is get NBC, CBS, FOX, and PBS if possible. We have a cheap Phillips antenna on now and we get PBS good. I was getting Fox and NBC the other day using the same cheap antenna and a cheap amplifier I had. Not sure if it is even possible to get all of those channels but it sure would be nice.
As for antenna mounting were pretty flexible. We do have a HOA so nothing super huge but I'm not too worried about it. On the back of the house the ground slopes off and the roofline is ~25' which is what I ran the report as.
Thank you in advance for you help and antenna suggestion, I really appreciate it.
Also, we are on the N/E side of Cheyenne, WY.

Hi JHebrew,
Your plot is doable. I suggest you install outdoors an Antennacraft HBU33. http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=HBU33&ss=32265. Orientate to magnetic heading 210.
Install RCA TVPRAMP1R preamp. http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=TVPRAMP1R&ss=32263. Make sure when you install preamp, run coax from HBU33 to "combined" coax input. There is also a switch below coax input. Make sure it is in combined as well.
If this aiming doesn't bring everything in reliably, play with aiming. KKTQ-LD (KTWO ABC), might be a little tricky, but your stronger signals should give you some extra play in aiming to find the sweet spot for KKTQ. Also, for purposes of aiming, KWYP (PBS) is carried over rebroadcast K36JO-D. Thus, we can ignore KWYP and focus on the closer stronger translator.
You should see with the antenna mounted outdoors free of obstructions: ABC, NBC, PBS, CBS, FOX and KGSC.
Good luck.

Yes I agree with StephanieS assessment of the reception situation.
---->The Wyoming Tv stations are easy to receive by them selfs.<----
It is when the Very weak signal strength Colorado Tv stations are to be received the reception situation becomes More Involved.
Colorado Tv station KFCT-DT , Real UHF channel 21 is Very weak signal strength.
To try for reception , Aim the HBU33 antenna at KCFT at 179 degree magnetic compass direction for reception of KFCT , KFCT has FOX Network and Antenna Tv Network.
When the antenna is aimed at 179 degree that puts KKTQ-LD Real UHF channel 16 , a repeater station for KTWO ABC , at 248 degree magnetic compass direction , will have less signal strength of reception by the antenna because of the 69 degree Azimuth spread.
The Azimuth spread puts KKTQ at at Very wide angle off to the side of the forward direction of the HBU33 antenna.
And that would not be much of a problem if it were not for the , 1 Edge Path , obstruction= hills/mountains , as shown in the tvfool channel list.
Directional antennas such as and not limited to the HBU33 antenna receive the best at the front forward direction of the antenna , less at front angles to the antenna , less at back angles to the antenna , less at the back of the antenna.
Directional antennas receive the least amount of signal directly on the sides of the antenna.
So by now you are thinking , I do not understand this and what does it have to do with me.
This and more is all to do with your reception situation.
And this and more is what we take into account when recommending a Tv antenna for reliable reception.
-----------
The short of it is , aim the HBU33 antenna at 179 degree magnetic compass direction to 'Try' for reception of the Weak signal strength KFCT.
If KKTQ becomes if'y because of the wide forward off to the side angle to the HBU33 antenna , then aim the HBU33 antenna at 210 degree magnetic compass direction for better reception of KKTQ.
-----------
Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing.html.
Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.
Most Digital Tv's have a Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.
Signal Quality is important for Reliable reception.
As always , the antenna aim direction and location can be adjusted for best reception.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. .

-------------
For Test of reception have only 1 Tv connected , No signal splitters.
-------------
Antenna location is -->Extremely Important<-- for Reliable Reception.
As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.
Some and not all Negative Effects are.
Absorbing and Blocking Reception.
Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.
The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.
The directions of reception at your location are , West , South West , South , South East.
------------
Here is the the Federal Antenna Law that says Yes you can install a Broadcast Tv antenna of Any Size and install the antenna a location that Provides the Best Reliable Reception.
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html
Hoa's are well aware of the Federal Antenna Law , and some Hoa's are thinking that you are not , and even if you are aware of the Federal Antenna Law that you will not understand the Federal Antenna Law.
