Antenna Recommendations

Hello Everyone,

I live in a rural area and am currently connected to a satellite system for tv reception, I would like to drop the satellite service and go with an over the air antenna, I would appreciate any recommendations for an antenna and amplifier that will allow me to get as many channels as possible from my location. I live on a hilltop with a clear line of sight except for trees, my antenna would be 25 feet above the ground. I have included a link to my Station Locator Report.

The provide Tvfool report says, the location is resolved to block level only.

The area that you live is a tough reception area.

Some locations are worse and some reception locations are better.

So as to have best and most accurate reception/location information.

So the best most effective antenna and amplifier and etc. can be recommended.

Please make and post a Tvfool report with the exact address.

Enter the Exact address , make the antenna height 25 feet above ground in the Tvfool report.

WBKI The CW , and , WKSO PBS , are strong signal strength , LOS=Line Of Sight and short distance of 25.6 and 19.6 miles away , and easy to receive.

Will most likely not be to hard to receive.

Your reception situation is Tough.

The Tough situations are to receive , NBC , CBS , ABC.

After much research and evaluation.

I recommend reaching out for the Lexington area Digital Broadcast TV Stations Channels.

All UHF Channels TV Stations/Channels.

WDKY-TV , REAL UHF Channel 31 , FOX.

WKYT-TV , REAL UHF Channel 36 , virtual number (27.1) , CBS and CW.

WTVQ-DT , REAL UHF Channel 40 , virtual number (36.1) , ABC and MyNetwork.

WLEX-DT , REAL UHF Channel 39 , virtual number (18.1) , NBC and MeTv.


The TV Stations Channels are Very Weak Signal Strength.

And Will Require Extreme Measures to Receive.

The Tv Stations are the Direction of , North East.

Avoiding the Signal Absorbing and Blocking Ability of Trees is Very Important.

The closer the trees are in the direction of reception the worse it is for reception , the further the trees are away from the antenna in the direction of reception the better for reception.

So Getting the Antenna Up High is Very Important.

Here is a 10 foot tripod roof top antenna mount. Model 4712-50-10.

Home Depot and Lowes , have the 10 foot long , Top Rail - Chain Link Fence Pipe , that makes a good antenna mast pipe.

This will put the antenna even higher above ground when put in the 10 foot tripod antenna mount.

Install a , Antennas Direct , DB8e UHF Channels antenna aimed at about 42 degree magnetic compass direction.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

Most Digital Tv's have a , Signal Strength Meter , and some Digital Tv's , also have a , Signal Quality Meter.

Signal Quality is Important for Reliable Reception.

Install a , RCA , TVPRAMP1R , preamplifier.

Recommend connect only 1 Tv for Testing of reception.

No splitters.
Splitters reduce signal strength , and Reducing Signal Strength is Not Good during the Testing of Reception of Weak Signal Strength Tv Signals.

The Tv Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , ATSC-Digital Broadcast TV Stations/Channels , often named the ~ DTV Channels ~ Antenna Channels ~ Air Channels ~ in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select ~ DTV Channels ~ Antenna Channels ~ Air Channels ~.

Scan for the , ATSC-Digital Broadcast TV Stations/Channels.

Digital Broadcast Tv Tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

To clear tuner do Double Rescan.
