Am I going to be able to get anything with an attic-mounted antenna? Given the terrain, and the location of the transmitters, will there be any likelyhood of reflection off the mountain to the East?

What equipment might be recommended for this scenario?

If we were next door neighbors, you'd see an Antennas Direct 91XG or DB8e above the peak of my roof, aimed at 11° per a compass. I'd also add an Antennacraft Y10713, pointed toward 327°. The two antennas would connect to the UHF and VHF ports of an RCA TVPRAMP1R preamplifier.

If I had a tall chimney available, I'd use a chimney strap kit and 10' chain-link fence top rail to support the antennas and preamp.

An attic install is unlikely to be successful. You need to avoid all obstructions if it's possible, taking safety into consideration.

According to the FCC (http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?call=WTZT-CD), WTZT-CD will move, or has moved, to the same location as the other transmitters (8 or 9 degrees) in the area. I'm not really interested in that channel anyhow. Would dropping the VHF antenna change which equipment is otherwise suggested?

If you have no interest in WTZT, then omit the Y10713. The High gain UHF antenna and preamp recommendation stands.
