Antenna Recomendation

What would be the recommended setup for three TVs,picking up all local stations and whatever I can get from the south (CBS, ABC, PBS, NBC, FOX). Multiple antennas are fine but I do not want to use any type of switches.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Going for the USA Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

The ones that are most likely to be received reliably are.

WNPI-DT REAL UHF Channel 23 , PBS.

WCFE-DT REAL UHF Channel 38 , PBS.

WNYF-CD REAL UHF Channel 18 , FOX and digital sub channel CBS is WWNY-TV.

So no requirement to receive WWNY-TV REAL VHF high band channel 7 CBS.

The rest of the USA Digital Broadcast TV stations/channels on down the channel list will Most Likely Not Be Received Reliably.

At 30 to 45 feet antenna height above ground install a Antennas Direct DB8e UHF antenna.

As a starting antenna aim direction , aim the DB8e antenna , both 4 bay bowtie panels at about , 123 degree magnetic compass direction.

Then aim 1 of the 4 bay bowtie panels at about 153 degree magnetic compass direction.

This for reception of USA Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

The Canada Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels are strong signal strength and will most likely be received by the DB8e antenna even though the DB8e is not aimed at them.

So only one antenna required to receive the USA and Canada Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

Avoiding obstructions such as , trees and tree leaves , and all other types and kinds of obstructions to reception in the directions of the Weak Signal Strength USA Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels is -> Important.

And avoiding obstructions in all other directions of reception is -->Important.

Thanks for the info teleview. So mounting a DB8e at about 30' should pick up most of the stations except ABC and NBC.

I'd suggest keeping both panels aligned in parallel and splitting the difference between the two southeast headings for your aiming direction for your initial effort. The antenna receives best when the panels are working together and the spread between the two headings is less than the -3 dB beamwidth of the DB8e on the channels of interest.

The nearest NBC affiliate to you is in Plattsburg and is out of range.

The tvfool radar plot and channel list shows that , NBC is Way Down in the Gray Area , will not be received.

Thanks everyone for the info and antenna recommendations, I will not be installing the antenna just yet as it's to dangerous on the roof at the moment. I'll have to wait until the spring :mad:

The Canada , Digital Broadcast TV Stations Channels are Strong Signal Strength and Easy to Receive.

The insides of buildings and attics Are Not a reception friendly environment and Never Will Be a reception friendly environment.

For indoor type Tv antenna.

Reception is better when the indoor type antenna or even a outdoor antenna is placed in/at a , window or patio-balcony window or patio-balcony door window.

The reason reception is better in/at a , window , is , window glass more easly passes Tv signals through the glass , then , wood and sheet rock walls , metal and metal walls , one example and not the only example of metal walls is/are buildings that's warped with -stucko wire.
Also metal siding and metal roofs are not good for reception and more examples of building materials that are not good for reception.

Any way place a , Terk HDTVi antenna in/at a , window , patio-balcony window , patio-balcony door window that faces , North North East.

Aim the Terk HDTVi (not HDTVa) antenna at about 30 degree magnetic compass direction.
