I'm really interested in installing a 2 antenna system one for UHF and one for VHF. We are newly married and want to save as much money in the long run especially avoiding the monthly cable bill. My father-in-law has a big antenna that is a combo UHF/VHF made by Winegard and it gets a pretty good signal most of the time but there are times the channel will just blank out and is impossible to get back even by rotating the antenna a little. Any recommendation in helping us find the best antennas available to be able to receive the most signal and number of antennas would greatly be appreciated.

ps: We will also be installing an antenna rotator, to take advantage of an antenna it's directional.

Here is the report to give you info:

For reception of the Corpus Christi area Tv stations.

Install a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Winegard LNA-200 'Boost' XT amplifier , aimed at about 29 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Old School magnetic compass.

As always , the starting antenna aim direction is the --> starting antenna aim direction.

The antenna aim direction can be adjusted for best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have a signal strength meter and some Digital Tv's also have a signal quality meter.

I suspect a antenna rotator will not be required after the antenna aim direction is adjusted by hand for best reception.
_____

Thanks for the antenna recommendation. I was trying to find out if I were to purchase a 40 foot tower if there would be a big difference in signal strength. I changed my information to see if you see an improvement and if it was worth getting a tower. Here are 2 reports one at 25 feet and one at 40 feet with the tower.

I see a difference of about 1 dB comparing the first TVFR @ 30' AGL vs. the 40' report. That's not very significant. I would hang some metal in the air at 30'. If you end up with reliability issues with one or more signals, then reconsider going higher.
