There are two ways to go at this situation. One is to simply go after the strong local translators grouped together at 49°. A small 2-bay or 4-bay UHF antenna would be plenty. If driving only one TV, no amplifier would be needed. Example antennas, Channel Master CM-4221 and Antennas Direct DB4e.

The other approach is to go after the Portland signals to the south and slightly west. If that's the plan, use the 'big guns', an Antennas Direct 91XG, an Antennacraft Y10713 and the Antennacraft 10G221 preamp.

i'm glad you responded. thank you! It's on tv and i would be happy as long as i can watch local channels on sundays for football ;) i'm gonna go ahead and see how the ones at 49 degrees work..

thanks again

If a few buck invested in a small or mid size UHF antenna can be risked... go for it. But before committing $$ to that option you'll want to look into which translators are on the air.

Fox tends to be a big football outlet (at least here in the Seattle market). http://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=station_search&callsign=KPTV#station suggests their translator may not be on the air at the moment.

I also don't see a translator that caries an ABC network feed in Rainier.

I would lean toward going after the Portland signals.

I was talking to a friend and i told him i wanted to put an antenna on the roof and he was telling me that what he got. He's going straight for portland with one of the antenna styles you suggested. he said he gets crystal clear picture except when a train goes right by his house. Also, he's using an amplifier and i think two TVs.

so far so good. it's not impossible :D

i appreciate you taking time and helping me out. thank you!
