Looking at cutting my cable cord and would be using an HDTV antenna in addition to Netflix. What antenna do you reccomend? Thanks alot.

This is a house. Not insulated. Windows facing North and West which sucks because the signal comes from the East.Signal would have to pass through 2 walls. 1 story house.

The signal strengths are Very Strong Signal Strengths and Very Close at 5 and 6 miles.

Install a simple antenna above the roof in such a manner that the roof and house are not impeding and blocking reception in the direction of , East.

Install a Antenna Craft , AC9 antenna aimed at about 100 degree magnetic compass direction , here is how to aim antennas ,

A winegard , DS3000 J pole type antenna mount makes a good antenna mount for the AC9 antenna.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter.

Remove and discard , rubber weather boots , rubber weather boots take in and hold water inside the boot , this is not good for connections.

To keep Weather and Water out of outside connections and coax.

Use coax that has the Compression type connectors on the ends of the coax , not the old crimp type connectors.

To make double sure that weather and water does not get into outside connections , wrap with http://www.coaxseal.com.

To keep weather and water out of the matching transformer (balun) that connects the antenna to the coax , Completely wrap with coax seal.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative effect on broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house and other obstructions.

The Best Practice is to install a antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channel' or '[ Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Sime digital tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.

The leaf is UHF only. On your report, look at the box on the bottom left that's showing the VHF channels. Don't expect to get those with the leaf. You need an antenna rated for UHF+VHF reception. A Winegard HD7000R would suit you well mounted on the roof.

Honestly I think I can get by with just the uhf. Nothing really great in the vhf channels anyway. Plus with Netflix, hulu in the mix I should be fine.

The Leaf can pull in VHF and UHF. Your location is so fantastic that you should have no problem pulling in all the green channels on your TV Fool. You're less than 10 miles away, and you have a clear line of sight. Get the Leaf and don't look back.

Well, by design, the bow tie is for UHF reception. The Leaf has two bow ties (similar to an Eagle Aspen dtv2buhf, minus the reflector). Sure, put it near a strong VHF signal and it will pick it up, but not as well as a VHF design will. I'd never suggest anyone attempt to tune a signal without the correct antenna. Spending time and money on the wrong tool is a waste, IMO. Getting the best signal strength means you get the best reception, even in adverse conditions.

If OP gets the Leaf, maybe he can post back with results, specifically signal strength for Ch 3.
