Need help choosing OTA antenna in East TX

Hi,

My wife and I have been talking about "cutting the cord." We usually find ourselves watching network TV. Any help choosing an antenna would be appreciated. I would like to place it in the attic if possible. The house currently has cable run to 7 TVs.

Would the Clearstream 2V-J3 or Mohu Sky be good options?

Above the roof in such a manner that the roof and house are not blocking reception to the , North East , East , South East.

Install the AntennasDirect , ClearStream 2V-J3.

Aim the CS2v antenna at about 80 degree magnetic compass direction.

Install a Channel Master CM3418 , 8 way distribution amplifier.

Terminate any unused output ports of the distribution amplifier.

The coaxes that are in/on the house can be used for the antenna/distribution system.

Active cable system coax , cable tv service , cable internet service , cable phone service , must be on a Separate coax that is not part of the coaxes are used for antenna system coaxes.


Some satellite systems have provisions to distribute Tv antenna signals via the active satellite system coaxes and some satellite systems do not.

If the satellite system is not active , then Disconnect and Remove All componets such as and not limited to , multi-swithes , multi-plexers , combiners , splitters , amplifiers , power injectors , power supplies , and etc. .

Yes the satellite system coaxes can be used for the antenna system if the satellite system is not active.

As a test to see what is received , I recommend connect a continues length of coax from the CS2v antenna and run the continues length of coax through a open window or door direct to 1 Tv.

No amplifiers , no splitters , grounding couplers , no etc.

Using google and yahoo to search what programing is on the Tv stations/channels are.

These Broadcast Tv stations/channels should be received.

KETK-TV , NBC and Estrella Tv .

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative effect on Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings including your own house and other obstructions.

The Best Practice is to install Tv antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstruction of any type or kind in the directions of reception.

The Tv Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select , 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.

All PBS channels are available for free and also other channels are availiable for free via , FTA= Free to Air , Satellite Tv.

Thanks for the additional info.
We are planning on getting either Netflix, Hulu, or both.
I wish KERA would get the translators in Tyler referenced in the Wiki article.
The FTA info looks interesting, but a little expensive to get started. Can the FTA signal be run over the same coax that the antenna is on?
