I have a Winegard HD7015 VHF/UHF/FM Prostar 1000 TV Antenna (HD-7015) mounted in the attic, pointed the right direction, getting quite a few channels. With rain I get some drops, but the weather is supposed to be clear for the Superbowl, so we'll see.

Anyway, I tried the RadioShack® High-Gain HDTV-FM Signal Amplifier Model: 15-259 to boost the signal for the downstairs TV but it destroyed the signal (went from about 25 channels to 2). Not good. I sent a message to the company I bought the antenna from but not sure if I'll get a response before the game tomorrow.

What booster should I use, preferably one I can get at the local Shack?

Thanx much in advance!

Its probably too late to get one from RS unless its in stock. Their branded preamps may be available in stores but their performance is considered substandard, but give them a call anyway if you are desperate to get one.

The better ones are not stocked, but here they are for your information:

Winegard - Model:HDP-269 Catalog #: 55030424

you can get ship-to-store and save money on shipping costs.

There is also a more powerful preamp but you risk overloading your signal if you are close to the transmitters (35 miles or less)

Winegard - Model:AP-8700 Catalog #: 55030411

Radio Shack prices are pretty lousy but there is a convenience factor involved especially if its a roof antenna. Mail order prices charge a lot for oversize packages, Radio Shack has free shipping.

Rick, thanx, will go check tomorrow. We have 4 shacks in the area, including a franchise that may carry different stuff.

Appreciate it.

It would help us if you could share a TVF report with us...
