View Full Version : Help with antenna selection
I need some help choosing a roof mounted antenna and deciding if a pre-amp is needed.
Here is my TV Fool result http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d1ddafdff01a76a
There are some trees to the west and north that cannot be avoided. It is clear to the east and south.
I plan to connect four TVs with a total cable run of about 200 feet.

Give a Winegard HD7694P a try, pointed west, it will also receive adequately from the east. Pair this with an Antennas Direct CPA-19 and you'll be able to drive the coax and splitter.

A Simple reception situation.
Above the roof in such a manner that the roof and house are not blocking reception in all directions install a Winegard HD7696P antenna with a Winegard HDP-269 preamp aimed at about 70 degree magnetic compass direction.
Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.
For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.
For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.
For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.
For 4 Tv's connected use a , HFS-4D , 4 way splitter.
Here are places to buy HFS splitters.

___________
As a Test of reception , aim the HD7696P antenna at about 277 degree magnetic compass direction.
For reception of the Digital Tv stations/channels to the west.
If reception is good with the Tv stations/channels to the west and you will like to continue to receive them.
Turn the antenna back to about 70 degree magnetic compass direction.
Install a second HD7696P / HDP-269 / splitter / coax system.
The 2 antennas systems will not be connected on to one coax.
The 2 Separate antenna systems will be Separate all the way to the locations of the Tv's , and a Remote control A/B antenna switch will be connected at each Tv location.
Remote control A/B antenna switching is Channel Surfing Friendly , press the button on the hand held remote control , change antennas and Keep On Channel Surfing.
_________
Putting 1 Tv on a antenna rotator Is Not channel surfing friendly , must wait for antenna to rotate and there Will Be Domestic Situations about the direction the antenna is aimed.
