I moved to Rockwall about 4 months ago and have been surviving off netflix, hulu and espn3. I've finally decided to try to get some OTA reception going but am having trouble deciding exactly what equipment is suitable for where I live. Ideally I'd only have an attic antenna, but it seems like a roof antenna is the best option to get most of the basic stations.

Here is my TV signal analysis report:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The tvfool radar plot report , has no antenna height , please make a tvfool radar plot reports at 25 and 40 feet to have a better look at signal strengths.

How many Tv's are/will be connected??

If I had to make a recommendation based on the data in your first report, I would lean very heavily toward an outdoor, roof top mounted antenna.

It appears you are close to having a line of sight view of the available transmitters, but you don't have that at the default height of ten feet. It would be best to have you generate a TVFR based on a roof mounted antenna. If you have 'line of sight' at higher mounting level, you'll be able to use a much smaller antenna.

Thanks for the advice. I created the signal analysis report for both 25ft and 40ft as suggested. I'll be connecting 3 TVs eventually for OTA reception.

25ft: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3dcc4907a3656d91
40ft: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3dcc49cf3aaacc30

It definitely looks a lot better at 40ft. So perhaps I can use a smaller directional antenna, any suggestions for which one would work best?

Thanks!

Ok.
At about the 25 foot antenna height above ground , for reception of the Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , of the Current Plus Pending Applications Included channel list , in the Yellow reception zone of the channel list , down to and including KTXD-TV REAL UHF Digital channel 46 , virtual number (47.1) http://metvnetwork.com.

Install a Winegard HD7082P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp. Aimed at about 227 degree magnetic compass direction, Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.
For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.
For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.
Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.hollandelectronics.com , or , http://www.solidsignal.com.

At 40 feet above ground antenna height , Many of the Digital Tv stations move out of the Yellow reception zone in to the Green reception zone in the channel list.
To receive more Digital Tv stations/channels down the channel to ,

K31GL-D REAL UHF Digital channel 31 , virtual number (31.1) , http://www.hottvchannel.com and www.myretrotv.com.

KATA-CD REAL UHF Digital channel 50 , virtual number (x) , http://amgtv.tv.

Install a Winegard HD7082P antenna. No preamp.

For 1 Tv connection use no preamp and no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a Channel Master CM3412 distribution amplifier.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal buy typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here is a , free standing , no guy wires , lay over tower , do all antenna installation and adjustments standing on the ground. http://www.palcoelectronics.com/pe300.aspx

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.

It is best to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the direction of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

The following information has to do with more choices.

For the reception of the Digital Tv stations/channels in the Yellow reception zone of the Digital Tv stations/channels list. Down to KPXD-TV REAL Digital UHF channel 42 , virtual number (68.1) ION , And most likely down to KTXD-TV ME-TV.

But may or may not included reception of , KSFW-LD Real Digital channel 2 , is currently showing infomericals.

The 'LD' of the Tv stations call letters KSFW-LD = Low Power digital Tv station , low power Tv stations often change programing , and may change to a more interesting programing in the future.

Install a Winegard HD7696P antenna with the CPA-19 preamp. And the HFS splitters for more then 1 Tv connected.

With the antenna at about 15 feet above ground and installed above the roof.

The reason I say KSFW may or may not be received is because KSFW does not have much signal strength at your location , and , is because the HD7696P antenna is designed to receive channels , VHF high band channels 7 thru 13 and UHF band channels 14 thru 51. Not VHF low band channels 2 thru 6.
