Good day Folks, newbie here. I have a question and hopefully someone more knowledgeable here will be able to help me?

I have a AntennaCraft HDMS9100 (http://www.antennacraft.net/pdfs/HDMS9100.pdf) and I can't figure out if it will pull some TV channels from @ 40-45 miles away.

Here is the TV Fool signal analysis

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d2df9de94717ef1

And hopefully someone can understand the signal analysis more than me and let me know if I can receive digital channels from 45 miles away. I intend to install it @ 8 feet off the ground.

I am not at that location currently and don't know if I should bring it down the antenna there to try it out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, IAN...

Your signal report indicates the need to consider a more capable antenna and/or higher mounting.

A second TV Fool report based on a higher mounting height (25' is often valid for a one story home) would help decide which course is best. I expect a reasonable increase in mounting height will change the predicted signal report quite a bit in your favor.

The HDMS9100 has little hope of receiving more than the one strongest signal, WZRA. If you're stuck with it, and you can't afford anything else, higher mounting will be your best hope. I'm sure there are reasonably priced alternatives that will perform much better though.

8 feet antenna height will not do it.

Please make to more tvfool reports , 25 and 40 feet antenna height.

Is this a , house , town home , condo , apartment , mobile home , motor home , or etc.??

What floor??

What is the top floor??

What directions are , windows , patios/balconies??

Do any , windows , patios/balconies , face a inner court yard and if so what direction is that??

Hi, thank you both for the information.

The reality is that this location is a campground and my intention was to mount the HDMS9100 to a 6-8 foot mast and attached to the end of a picnic table.

I wish I could get the antenna up to 15-20 feet as I could probably receive most of the "red color" signals.

I wasn't sure if I installed with a 8 foot height if I could receive the stations that are @40 miles away even if the HDMS9100 has a amplifier?

Anything I could do to get those channels?

At 8 feet antenna height the answer is most likely No , with the HDMS9100. But you can try.

A Winegard HD7696P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp would most likely get get 3 or 4 channels at 8 feet antenna height.

And there is also the issue of trees , trees do a real fine job of reducing or blocking TV reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.

It is best the locate the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the direction of reception.

WZRA is a very strong local signal and will be received in any event , so the direction of reception is 143 degree magnetic compass direction , the weaker Tv stations.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

It still will be nice to have a look at the tvfool reports at 25 and 40 feet antenna heights to see if improvements in signal strengths.

And it is important to make sure that the coridantes of location are correct.

Go to the tvfool home page , click on , >>Start MAPS<< move the pointer to the location and click on the to make tvfool radar report plot.

With a higher antenna height then 8 feet a preamp will most likely not be required however need to see those higher antenna heights.

So it looks like I may as well just pay the $30 a month for Cable TV instead of trying to mount a 25 ft mast for a tv antenna.

I am just at the campground for 5 months, so I may as well just pay and not try to bring down the huge HDMS9100 from Canada. (limited space in my small RV )

Thanks a lot for all your help and experience, IAN...
