Recommendation on rotator for best reception

I have already purchased a Winegard HD7698P, Winegard ANWI8700, 3 foot tripod, 5 foot mast and 50 feet Mediabridge Triple Shielded Coax (all still new in their boxes). (Oh, and btw, am I missing anything?)

Getting ready for install but considering a antenna rotator.

Any recommendations?

Any preference between a single wire or 3-wire install?

Hello Ben, and welcome.

It looks like you are near Leonardtown in southern Maryland.

If you aim your 7698 at about 344 degrees magnetic, you will have a good selection of channels. What channels do you want that make you think you need a rotator? They can be a lot of trouble in the winter.

Also, if you have a rotator your TV must be able to add channels after a scan. Can your TV do that?
(Oh, and btw, am I missing anything?)You are missing the parts to ground the coax and the mast, like a grounding block and no. 10 copper wire to connect to the electrical system ground.

I would recommend the Eagel Aspen ROTO 100 rotor with the single coax configuration. With the rotation to some weaker channels you should add an amplifier.

Install a Winegard AP8700 pre-amplifier. This model will work with the Eagel one cable configuration if you follow the manufacture's instructions.

Thefollowing is Teleview recommendation for broadcast Tv reception.

Antenna rotators Are Not channel surfing friendly , must wait for antenna to rotate. And not every one in the house will agree where the antenna is aimed.

Looking at the Pending Applications Included Digital , I see that all of stronger Tv transmitters , the digital Tv stations channels are to the , north , north west.

For reception of the digital Tv stations channels to the , north , north west.

A smaller HD7696P antenna with the AP8700 preamp will be fine.

Aim the HD7696P antenna at about 340 degree magnetic compass direction.

This set up will receive the digital tv stations channels in the Yellow reception zone down to WNVC-DT 24 IND.

For 1 Tv connection use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

If there is 1 Tv connected and you are the Boss of the Tv remote and the Rotator remote , then the HD7698P antenna with the AP8700 preamp and a antenna rotator will get more Tv stations.

The Eagle Aspen Rotor is made to handle antennas up to 131 inches in length. The 7698p is too large for this rotor.

I've run large antennas like this on the NTE U105 and U106 or Antennacraft TDP2 rotor without any trouble. Try one of these instead.

Thank you for all the help getting set up. I have had everything up and running now for a few years; pointed 7698 at 344 degrees magnetic.

Everything is great except I will sometimes (mostly during late night) experience signal drop on my most desired channels in the VHF Hi band. This fade does not favor any particular channel put I do notice more on WJZ and WBAL but it does also occur on WUSA ans WJLA.

Thinking about upgrading the Winegard ANWI8700 preamp to an Antennacraft 10G202 for the added gain (about double) while retaining a low noise figure.

In your opinion, will this help with the signal fade that I am experiencing? Is there a better preamp that you would suggest?

No. Swapping to a higher gain preamp won't fix the fading problem.

More likely, the problem is due to either local electrical/electronic noise or distant signals interfering with the very weak desired signals
