Antenna Advice Needed - San Martin, CA

Hi all,

Need antenna recommendations for San Martin, CA 95046. Looking for the best rooftop setup. Planning on just one TV, no splitter.

One antenna , one tv antenna rotor , one tv. The person that controls the remotes controls where the antenna is pointed and what programing to watch. Your location has , low band channels , high band channels , uhf channels. So it's a all band antenna the Winegard HD7084P. No antenna amplifier is needed. Your location has adjacent channel and co-channel warnings. What that means is -- possible interference from other television transmitters. The HD7084P is a sharply directive antenna so the antenna can be zeroed in on the desirable station/channel and reject the interfering one. NO Antenna amplifier is needed. The antenna will be mounted on a Channemaster CM 9521A rotor or a http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=460. I suggest use New RG-6 coax cable from the antenna to the Tv. I also suggest a coax grounding block with a wire connected to the electrical service Ground Wire. Thats the ground wire thats connected to the long rod that is in the ground. If not that ground then a Cold Water Pipe , DO NOT use a hot water pipe as ground. The cold water pipe must be real metal not plastic , and the real metal cold water pipe must be real metal that goes down in to the ground out to the water main. And yes you must scrape corrosion and paint off so it's metal to metal contact. I spent time in the RV park near San Martin in 2008 (Maple Leaf). I was able to get pretty good reception from both SF/San Jose and Salinas.
The antenna was a Clear Stream C4 -- looks funny but works (ordered on the internet). I had occasional drop outs that I think was caused by aircraft. It was mounted to my 5th wheel. Costco has a Clear Stream C2 that might work?

A 24 db amp was used too (available at Fry's) .
I could not receive NBC channel 11, but was able to pick up NBC channel 8 in Salinas.

Other antennas worked too and Fry's now carries an assortment. If you happen to have a roof antenna now and it worked for analog, it will work for digital too. Nothing special about antennas for digital except the antenna should be UHF capable for reception of most digital broadcasts.

No worries John. I already have the Winegard HD7084P. Hooked up temporarily and getting 50 channels. Haven't decided exactly how I want to mount it yet but will report back once it's all in place. Thanks again.

The mounts that are most often used are , tripod roof mount , chimney mount , peak of the roof eave mount.
