Hi,

I just bought an antenna (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103077) and have tried scanning for channels. The only ones from network I got was NBC, tried repositioning and could not get abc or cbs or fox or cw! Has anyone in San Bruno had any luck with getting better reception of OTA channels using an indoor antenna?

Is structure the antenna is in a , house , condo , apt. , mobile home , motor home ? Is the antenna in a basement ? Is the structure wrapped with any type or kind of metal such as but not limited to metal siding or stucko with stucko Wire. Does the building have a metal roof ? Is the antenna at a place that blocks reception ? Is the Tv set to Scan for Broadcast Digital Channels ? Not analog or cable channels. http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html

We are on the first floor in a two story condo kind of apartment. Not the basement and no metal encasing of any kind. Yes, set to scan for over the air digital channels only.

The tv transmissions in green are very strong , and the radio shack indoor antenna is nonamplified so thats correct. Might be something wrong with the connector or antenna wire that connects to the tv. Try one of these nonamplified antennas. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=233 , And read and understand this about Real digital tv channels and Virtual digital tv channels. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=695

There is nothing wrong with your antenna, except that it is inadequate for your needs. Unfortunately, MT St. Bruno is blocking your view of the Mt. Sutro tower. The reason that you can see KNTV is that KNTV broadcasts from Mt. ST Bruno, while the vast majority of the SF stations transmit from Mt. Sutro. Even though Mt. Sutro isn't very far, you have a considerable blockage of the signal from your location, and, I am afraid that no indoor antenna is likely to be able to solve your reception issues. If you have the ability to mount an antenna on the roof, you can probably see the stations that are on the Mt. Sutro tower, otherwise, it will be a real struggle to get any decent reception on anything other than the few transmitters that broadcast from Mt. St. Bruno.

The attachment representation is from TVFool.com represents the line of sight between your home and the Mt. Sutro

I helped some one connect a antenna to a tv and was getting no reception. So as I was looking closer at the threaded antenna connector on the tv , I saw the hole in the middle was all jiggerd up. I ask how got that way and he said he had jammed a nail in the hole. The big nail spread the contacts apart on the inside and the center wire of the coax did not make contact.

LOS = Line Of Sight = no obstructions. Do you have a patio so as to put a tv antenna out side ?

And I had a birthday party last night: that has about the same relevance to this situation...

I was banned by tigerbangs at his web site forum http://www.hdtvantennalabs.com . Go to the web site and see that he is the only one answering questions. Over time I have watched him ban others from answering questions. If he could , he would ban every one of you here at tvfool.

Thank you for your replies. Tried another more expensive indoor antenna with no different results, I think SB cable is the one good option now!
